Electric and gas dryer repair, including vent diagnosis

Nearly every dryer complaint reduces to one question: is it making heat, and can that heat get out? A blocked vent makes a healthy dryer behave exactly like a broken one — long cycles, hot laundry that stays damp, and thermal fuses that blow again a week after they are replaced. That is why the vent is part of the diagnosis rather than an upsell.

We service electric and gas dryers, vented and condenser models, and stacked laundry pairs. Heating elements, igniters, thermostats, thermal fuses, belts, rollers, and blower wheels cover the great majority of repairs, and the failure-prone parts for the major brands are carried on the truck.

What usually goes wrong

  • Tumbles but produces no heat

    A failed heating element on an electric dryer, or an igniter or gas valve coil on a gas model.

  • Takes two or three cycles to dry

    Restricted venting, a clogged lint path, or a blower wheel no longer moving full airflow.

  • Loud squealing or thumping

    Worn drum rollers, a failing idler pulley, or a flattened glide on the drum front.

  • Drum will not turn

    A snapped drive belt, a seized idler, or a motor that has failed to start.

  • Shuts off partway through the cycle

    Thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat tripping on heat that cannot escape — the vent is the usual cause.

  • Burning or hot lint smell

    Lint accumulation against the heater housing. Stop using it and book a service call.

I can very much recommend The Appliance Ranger. We wanted our dryer vent cleaned, I coordinated with 3 other neighbors to have the service done the same day for the 4 houses. The Technician Artem was excellent, on time (minus a gate code glitch) respectful of the property, worked quickly and efficiently and left the laundry room clean of all the lint behind the machines. I felt the pricing was a bit high, but the service comes with a 6 moths warranty. Why did my thermal fuse blow again?

A thermal fuse is a safety device — it blows because the dryer overheated, and it will keep blowing until the airflow restriction causing that overheat is cleared. Replacing the fuse alone is not the repair.

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year for most households, more often with a long duct run, a pet in the house, or several loads a week. It is the cheapest thing you can do for both drying time and safety.

Do you work on gas dryers?

Yes, including igniters, gas valve coils, and flame sensors. Gas work is carried out with the appropriate certification and leak-tested afterwards.

Is a condenser or heat pump dryer repairable?

Yes. They have their own faults — condenser blockage, drain pump, and sensor issues — and we service them alongside conventional vented dryers.
